Parents Association For The Mentally Handicapped Persons (PAMENCAP) is formation by the parents of mentally handicapped for a noble cause, It is a registered body under societies Act in 1996 in the name of Sri Sathya Sai Sadan. It is a non-profit, non-commercial, and non-political organization dedicated to serve the disabled, destitutes and oldage people, it is running a Special school for the Mentally Retarded with hostel and home for the destitute children. Now it is serving to 85 mentally retarded and 40 destitute children. Mild and moderate mentally retarded are eligible for training.
Aims and Objectives:
1) To educates and imparts pre-vocational and vocational training.
2) To provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for Mentally Retarded.
3) To establish sheltered vocational training centre.
4) To conduct rural outreach camps to facilitate identification and rehabilitation of
those challenged in rural areas, i.e., Community based Rehabilitation Programme (CBR).
5) Home based Training & Centre based training.
6) To provides support and encouragement to parents and other family members of
the family to deal with their problems.
7) To works with government and the public to secure more support for those challenged.
8) To brings the parents of this group under training, treatment and rehabilitation.
9) To creates public awareness and understanding.
10) To serves the destitutes and oldage people, by providing free education, food
and shelter with appropriate employment.
What Is Mental Retardation And What To Train, How To Train Them
All the fingers of the hand is not similar. People differ in their size/shape and color. Similarly some of us are more intelligent, or have more mental abilities than others. Those who are slow in learning, and understanding as compared to others, are called mentally retarded, but they are not mentally sick/ill.
Mental Retardation is often confused with mental illness. This is a misconception. A mentally retarded child learns at a much slower rate than a normal child. At maturity his capacity to understand and learn will be less than average. Training to Mentally retarded is a difficult and challenging task to the special Educators. Mentally retarded are not disabled, they are "Differently Bated" when they get proper training.
Education programme:
The aim of the Special School is to educate the mentally retarded to be a good and useful citizen as far as his capabilities permit and to help him to achieve some measure of personal, Social and Occupational independence and personal happiness. Functional Assessment Check List For Programming (FACP) is using for assessment and training for the mentally retarded which is developed by the National Institute for the mentally Handicapped (NIMH), Secunderabad. The Montessori material and self-made teaching aids are using for training.

Vocational Placement:
Those who have the pre-vocational skills are eligible for vocational training. Students are under go training for min. two years, after that they will get daily wages on their production capacity, we are also plan to start a sheltered employment scheme. The following trades exist in VTC "Note Book" Making, Envelop Covers, Hand Made Paper Bags, and Office Files etc.
Admission for Destitutes:
Those who have no more parents and without any financial, relatives assistance are eligible to admit into the home. We will provide shelter, food, education and employment. Her education with moral values, right conduct and character will develop in children. Share the feelings of destitute with each other to develop love and affection among them. Batavians' AMORAL and SPIRITUAL education is implemented from the primary section to develop good character to make a good citizen. Now we are serving to 40 destitute children and it will be extendto100 in future.
